Host a Valentine’s Day Event at Your Pet Care Business

If you are like most pet care facilities you are enjoying the slow down after a super busy Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holiday. And while I’m sure everyone is enjoying having less dogs in the facility, now is the time to start preparing customers for your upcoming events for Valentines Day.

Creating a themed event is key to driving more dogs in the door and highlighting how your pet care business is different from other facilities in the area. Below is an outline for how you can structure your own themed Valentines Day event along with a marketing flyer.

Valentine’s Photo Booth: “Puppy Love Pics”

  • A heart-themed photo backdrop featuring red and pink hues, plush props, and oversized hearts.
  • Dogs get their pictures taken in festive Valentine’s attire (bow ties, tutus, heart collars).
  • Optional: Include props like cupid wings or conversation heart signs with phrases like “Be Mine” or “Paw-some Friend.”

Themed Playtime Activities

  • “Fetch My Heart” Game: Bright red and pink balls or heart-shaped toys for dogs to fetch.
  • “Cupid’s Agility Course”: A mini-obstacle course decorated with hearts and ribbons where dogs can run, jump, and weave.
  • “Puppy Matchmaking Lounge”: A calm play area with soft music and comfy mats for dogs who prefer to relax and make new friends.

Valentine’s-Themed Treats

  • “Love Bites”: Heart-shaped dog-safe cookies (peanut butter, pumpkin, or sweet potato flavors).
  • “Cupid’s Chews”: Red and white striped chew treats or bully sticks.
  • “Sweetheart Pupcakes”: Mini cupcakes topped with yogurt-based frosting and a carob drizzle.

Add-On Options

  • Valentine’s Take-Home Bag: Small goodie bags with treats, a mini toy, and a cute Valentine’s card “signed” by their dog.
  • Contest: “Best Dressed Valentine Pup” – owners can dress their dogs up, and the winner gets a prize (like a free daycare session or a bag of premium treats).

Marketing Plan

Flyers in Daycare: Decorate with pink and red, showcasing the event details near check-in/out areas.

Social Media Teasers: Post pictures of decorated areas or Valentine-themed props with captions like, “Love is in the air (and the treats!) 🐾💌. Join us for Paws & Kisses!”

Email Blast: Send out an invite with registration details and highlight the activities and treats.
