As we have just concluded the first quarter of the year with Easter celebrations, it’s an opportune moment to pause and reflect on our goals and strategies within the pet industry. The changing seasons bring new opportunities and challenges, and it’s crucial for us as business owners to re-evaluate our approach to ensure continued growth and success. 

Reflecting on Q1: 

The first quarter of the year has been a period of both triumphs and trials for many of us. We’ve navigated through uncertainties, adapted to evolving market trends, and worked diligently to provide exceptional services to our beloved pet community. Now is the time to assess our progress, celebrate our achievements, and identify areas where we can further improve.

Easter: A Season of Renewal and Growth: 

With Easter having just passed, we are reminded of the themes of renewal, growth, and new beginnings. Let’s harness this spirit within our businesses as well. Whether it’s refreshing our marketing strategies, expanding our enrichment services, enhancing customer experiences, or exploring new partnerships, Easter serves as a timely reminder to embrace change and innovation.

Key Points for Consideration: 

 

  1. Goal Review: Take a moment to review the goals you set at the beginning of the year. Are we on track to achieve them? What adjustments or additional efforts are needed to stay aligned with our objectives?
  2. Customer Engagement: Easter presented a wonderful opportunity to engage with our customers creatively. For future holidays, consider themed promotions, interactive events, or special offers to delight our loyal pet-loving community.
  3. Service Enhancements: Are there any gaps or areas for improvement in our offerings? Solicit feedback from customers and consider introducing new enrichment activities or refining existing services to meet evolving demands.
  4. Operational Efficiency: Evaluate your business operations to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Streamlining processes can lead to enhanced productivity and better outcomes. Your goal should be labor as a percentage of revenue of 35%.
  5. Team Empowerment: Ensure your team members are motivated, well-trained, and equipped to deliver exceptional service. Invest in training programs, recognize their contributions, and foster a positive work culture.

Erin’s journey with us began in 2019, sparked by a chance encounter at the Hershey Groom Expo. Since then, she’s seamlessly transitioned into her role as Marketing Manager for all 100GROUP brands, including Kennel Connection. Erin’s background as a dog groomer, coupled with her expertise in web development and digital marketing, has brought a fresh perspective to our team. Custom Pet Icons serve as more than just adorable adornments; they can play a crucial role in communicating vital information about furry companions. By customizing icons staff can quickly identify and address any important issues that may arise. These icons can be tailored to reflect specific characteristics, health conditions, or behavioral traits, allowing for easy recognition of any concerns or needs. Whether it’s indicating dietary restrictions, medical conditions, or behavioral tendencies, Custom Pet Icons serve as valuable visual aids, enabling staff to provide tailored care and attention to each your clients.


Custom Pet Icons can be created in your Live Access under ‘Manage’ where you can select from over 1200 icons and assign them a meaning. Once applied to a pet profile, icons will show up on ‘Dashboard’ and schedule while the pet is in your facility. You can also add check in and checkout messaging for an additional reminder of icon meaning.

FAQ for Custom Pet Icons

How many custom icons can I add to a pet?

That’s one of the best things about this feature, add as many as you’d like!

Will my clients see these icons?

Don’t worry, all icons are internal for you and your staff only! They will not show on reminder emails, kennel cards, client portal, etc.

Can custom icons be removed from a pet?

100% Yes! We know things may change so if that happens, simply go into a pet card, select the drop down to add more icons, and select “remove” on an existing icon.
